Artist Steve Burtch: Light Capturer

Art, Tumblr

“Steve Burtch works with an almost imperceptible hand while he creates objects that both capture and transmit light. Our eyes detect a shadow while our other senses are washed by the silence and subtle echo. Steve Burtch received his BFA from the University of Houston where he had the opportunity to work with fellow alumnus Julian Schnabel. Following a year of travel to teach and study in Japan, Burtch entered the University of Houston’s MFA program. During his MFA candidacy, he received a grant from the Dallas Museum of Art to travel to England to study the works of Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth.
His influences are many, including the art and lives of Yves Klein, Lucio Fontana, Agnes Martin, and Mary Corse.” Via: LAARTSEEN
